What is it:
The Diplomatic Admission is a special admission process for members of the diplomatic corps (extended to family members) who are on a diplomatic mission, for members of international organizations who have diplomatic privileges or immunity, or for employees working under a technical or cultural cooperation agreement. This admission is granted to nationals of countries which offer Brazilians reciprocity on the matter.
Who can participate:
1) Foreign employees of a diplomatic mission or career consular office in Brazil and their legal dependents;
2) Foreign employees or technicians of an international organization that enjoys privileges and immunities by virtue of an agreement between Brazil and its organization, as well as their legal dependents;

How it works:
Diplomatic admission will only be granted to applicants from countries that guarantee the reciprocity regime and who hold a diplomatic or official visa.
Foreign technicians and their legal dependents may only be granted diplomatic admission if, by their service provision contract, they have a minimum length of stay of twelve months in Brazilian territory.
Applicants must request that the institution they work for write a Request Letter to the Coordenação-Geral de Privilégios e Imunidades (CGPI) of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE). This body of our Ministry will assess the request and, in case of approval, will inform the Secretaria de Educação Superior (SESu) of the Ministry of Education, which will authorize the admission.
The University of Brasilia will only accept the student after receiving a Requisition with the formal authorization from the SESu/MEC, in response to a request made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
After UnB has received the Requisition, it will inform the student to report to its Secretaria de Administração Acadêmica of the University of Brasilia, with the following documents:
- certificate of graduation of High School, with equivalence attested by the Conselho de Educação do DF;
- copy of the passport or diplomatic identification;
- administration fee receipt.
Students admitted by Diplomatic Admission are subjected to UnB rules.

Therefore, the applicant must be aware of the time needed for the whole process to be finished and ask for a Request Letter in due time.
In the case of transfer of the person responsible for new functions in another country, the student may maintain their diplomatic admission until the end of the course they have enrolled in, by replacing the diplomatic or official visa with the corresponding temporary one.
