FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY
The Undergraduate Student-Agreement Program (PEC-G) is a free of charge program from the Ministry of Education (MEC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) with Higher Education Institutions of Brazil.
The PEC-G Program chooses foreign citizens from countries with educational agreements with Brazil (see the list here), who reside in one of these countries, have completed High School, with minimum age of 18 and, preferably, under 23 years of age, and are interested in studying in Brazil.
The participants are exempt of payment of tuition fees, but must present proof of funds to cover expenses related to maintenance (food, housing, transport, etc.) during the entire period of the program in Brazil.
How it works
The selection of students is made by the Divisão de Temas Educacionais of MRE and the Coodernação-Geral de Internacionaliação of SESu/MEC, assisted by a comission of the partner institutions’ representatives.

Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PEC-PLE)
Students who do not speak Portuguese and meet specific criteria can selected to take a preparatory Portuguese Language Course during their first year of studies in Brazil. UnB is a participant university of PEC-PLE and may be these students first destination. The course is offered by the PEC-PLE coordination at UnB. This course is free of charge as part of the PEC. At the end of the first year, students taking PEC-PLE must take the Proficiency Certificate in Portuguese Language for Foreigners (CELPE-Bras). Students who acquire the necessary level at this exam are allowed to begin their undergraduate degree in their previously selected university as PEC-G students.
